Description
This painting depicts Zhuge Liang reclining on a daybed. It was done with lines of light and dark ink repeated over and over with the exception of the facial features. Zhang Feng mentions in the bold inscription that he did the painting after he became drunk.

  • 諸陶二公。讀書□略。如攻城略地之略。觀書止攬取其治亂興亡。大頭腦處。餘次瑣屑無關。便都寘之。非苟且粗略之略。公用世人。與高才豪上一等人不同。行師尚節制。罰二十以上皆親決。又曰先帝知臣謹慎。不求甚解。是說元亮為學道人。天資沈靜聰慧。於書皆不求而甚解。蓋求字下作一句讀。古人文法如此。莫因漉酒用巾。琴不事絃。便當作個潦倒頹唐老子。不然也。至子美詩云。讀書難字過。又是笑話人語。道著學人通病處。余向于二公讀書法。作一類錯解。豈獨難字過乎。廿三日附錄珠光菴長語一則。
